FAQs from London visitors to a London Food Travel Blogger

That’s a tricky question because it really depends on what kind of food you like. I really enjoy Toba, a Thai restaurant with great food and a welcoming team. For breakfast, I’d probably head to Covent Garden for pancakes at Apple Butter Cafe. You can find plenty of inspiration in my London Food Travel Blog.

Sadly, that’s true. Living spontaneously in London can be tough because popular places are usually booked months in advance. Some spots save tables for walk-ins, but by 7 pm, those are usually taken too.

Central London boasts an exceptional food scene, with a diverse range of dining options, from fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants to casual eateries. If you are savvy, try a pre-theatre offer, designed for people in a rush to the show. If you visit fancy places, your bill can be pretty high. An average pre-theatre is around ยฃ30 per person.

It depends. Central London usually includes a service charge in your bill. The farther from central London you go, the fewer places include it. The average is 12.5%, though each establishment can set its own rate. The service charge is discretionary, so you can ask to adjust or remove it. I pay for it if the service and experience meet expectations, but I remove or reduce it if I feel unwelcome or receive poor service.

The London Food Scene is versatile and endless, with Borough Market being a prime example. A short walk away, you can continue your foodie exploration on Bermondsey Street.

FAQ working with us

I will consider collaborating with restaurants, hotels, travel brands, and PR agencies that align with my values of authenticity and sustainability. You can learn more on my Work with Me page.

Yes, occasionally. If you’re a food or travel blogger who shares the same passion for authentic dining, you can pitch your idea via the contact form below.

In the eventuality that I will work with a brand or receive payment, I will always disclose it, in accordance with UK and EU rules. If I do not mention a sponsored or paid collaboration, it means I paid for the experience myself, and the review is my honest opinion.

While my Food Travel Guide and resources are free, I’ll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase through the affiliate links I’ve recommended. I appreciate your support, and I hope my blog is helpful to you.

FAQ about the way we work

I personally explore neighbourhoods, talk to locals, and test restaurants to curate this blog. My focus is on sustainable, independent spots that showcase London’s true culinary diversity. Read more about my favourite places.

Every review on Exploring the Food Scene reflects my personal dining experience. I recommend only restaurants I have visited and truly enjoyed.

I look for places that feel real and local, not just the usual tourist spots. When I write reviews, I share my own experiences and offer honest advice that you can actually use. I work as a General Manager in hospitality by day and a blogger by night, so I utilise my job knowledge to make my reviews and guides as helpful as possible.

London is one of my main focuses, but I also write food travel guides from other countries around the world.
