Akub Review: A Unique Middle Eastern Brunch in London
Akub Restaurant brings Middle Eastern Flavours to London
If you haven’t heard of Akub yet, I highly recommend reading my Akub Restaurant Review! If you are looking for Middle Eastern flavours in Central London, this is probably the place.
Akub offers a Palestinian cuisine nestled in the heart of the beautiful Notting Hill. The decor is minimalist and elegant, characterised by predominantly white, green, and brown tones, enhanced by large windows and a glass roof. The atmosphere is peaceful and earthy.
The restaurant is spread across three floors, with each room having its own distinct identity. There is a hidden bar on the lower floor next to the kitchen. All the details were carefully chosen, from the dark green crockery to the unique coffee cups, adding a rustic charm to the restaurant, and were uniquely designed for Akub by a pottery artist.
We decided to visit Akub for brunch and sample Middle Eastern Flavours!
Time to unfold my Akub Restaurant Review and explore what this Palestinian restaurant in London has to offer.
Good To Know
Before You Go
Akub offers Middle Eastern Brunch and A La Carte Menu.
Despite being Palestinian does not serve Halal meat, as the Head Chef, Patron Fadi Kattan, has chosen to source it from a specific British butcher that does not provide Halal ingredients.

Akub Restaurant Review: What to expect from brunch
At the time of the visit, they were offering a sharing breakfast for two people called Ftoor Lazeez (which translates to Delicious breakfast). It was a true testament to Palestinian cuisine. Since it was our first time exploring the Middle Eastern Brunch in London, it made it easier to order and navigate the unfamiliar dishes and ingredients.
Ftoor Lazeez included:
- A coffee or tea each;
- Two eggs each (boiled or fried);
- A delicious bread selection (Akub bread, Nigella seed crackers & spiced focaccia);
- Dips (Labaneh & Humous);
- Veggy (Fava Bean Foul & Zaatar Roasted Tomatoes);
- Selection of condiments & spices (Sumac, Zaatar, Olive oil, Pear Jam & Honey)
After enjoying the delightful ‘Ftoor Lazeez,’ we couldn’t resist ordering the Arabic coffee French toast, which is a personal favourite of mine. When it arrived, I was in awe. This French toast is the best I’ve ever had. It was incredibly fluffy, almost like walking on clouds, and the texture was remarkably soft. The taste was simply divine. It’s a dish I will never forget.

Overall impression of Akub
From the moment we stepped into Akub Restaurant, we were welcomed by a vibrant and enthusiastic staff who radiated warmth. The natural light added a delightful touch to the atmosphere. Choosing Ftoor Lazeez became an excellent decision, guiding us through the overwhelming menu filled with the richness of Palestinian cuisine.
When the Arabic coffee French toast arrived, we were left to discover the delightful surprise of pouring the coffee ourselves. Although this might seem intuitive, having someone guide us would have enhanced the experience. I noticed some staff were less attentive to guests’ needs, which could be improved.
At £22 each, we hoped for slightly larger portions. Choosing a different spot for an eggy breakfast could have yielded more for less, yet Ftoor Lazeez’s breakfast, infused with an array of dips and spices, left us wanting to explore its depths further. A sweet element could elevate the breakfast, making it even more enticing and fulfilling. Nonetheless, the authentic flavours ignited our curiosity and eagerness to journey deeper into this cuisine.
Our visit to Akub, just a week after its opening, showcased its potential to become a cherished Palestinian Restaurant destination in central London. With its unique Middle Eastern flavours, the food was a delightful experience, and we are excited to witness its growth. We spent around £65, with breakfast for two at £44, the French toast at £14, plus a 12.5% service charge.
